nReverse is the weblog of Archives & Architecture, LLC. (A&A) is a Cultural Resources Management firm founded in 1989 by the late Glory Anne Laffey, Historian. Located in San Jose, California, the firm provides historical consulting in the field of urban planning with a focus on historic property surveys and project evaluations involving historic resources.

Formed to provide professional services in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas, A&A has served public agencies, private business and individuals by conducting technical investigations and documenting historic properties, as well as providing design review of projects involving historic resources using the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The firm utilizes collaborative methods in historical research, engaging local historians where possible in their work to broaden the investigations as a means to insure relevance to local settings and related historic context.

The reports, like most in the field of historic preservation, are used for public planning purposes, to provide information for determining significant aspects of the past that warrant preservation within the development review process of local and regional government. Other research and documentation is undertaken in both the public and private sectors, including registration applications within the National Register of Historic Places, individual and corporate histories, museum interpretive programs, and to satisfy mitigation requirements mandated by regulatory actions pertaining to land use.
